Use of electronic devices during exams
Unless specifically allowed by the instructor, no devices that allow communication of any kind may be used during examinations (tests, quizzes, final exams, etc.) conducted as part of Institute of Technology courses. Prohibited items include, but are not limited to, cell phones, pagers, messaging devices, PDAs, computers with wireless network connections, and calculators with IR communication capabilities. Use of a prohibited device during an examination is considered cheating (academic integrity) and falls under the IT Scholastic Policy on Conduct and Discipline.
Instructors may place additional restrictions on the use of calculators in exams. For example, graphing calculators may be allowed, but ones that can store text and images are prohibited. Students are advised to check with their instructor prior to any examination if they are not sure whether or not their calculator is acceptable.
