Inventing Tomorrow

Prospective students

The Institute of Technology (IT)—the University of Minnesota’s college of engineering, physical sciences, and mathematics—is one of the premier colleges of its kind in the nation. Its degree programs consistently appear among the top 20 in national rankings.

IT offers you a rigorous and stimulating education tailored to your unique interests and goals. Faculty teach all IT classes and serve as mentors and advisors. Under their guidance you’ll acquire scientific and technical skills and the ability to think critically, write effectively, and learn independently.

You can take advantage of outstanding learning opportunities beyond the classroom, such as internships and co-ops, the IT Mentor Program, independent research, and study abroad.

As an IT student you’ll also have all the advantages of attending a large research institution, including extensive facilities and research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students. You’ll also enjoy the academic, cultural, and social opportunities of a major urban university located in one of the country’s most vibrant metropolitan areas.

IT is a place where you can bring your abilities, intellect, and hard work to bear on the challenges of the 21st century. Here you can fashion a life and a career, and set a course for your future, joining the people and alumni of IT who are “inventing tomorrow” today—year after year.
