K-12 outreach activities by department

Programs and activities offered by IT departments and centers vary. Some activities are structured and scheduled, while others are more informal and available upon request to the department.

Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics

    A mentor program for high school students interested in aerospace studies
  • Design class outreach
    AEM students visit K-12 schools to discuss the exciting career possibilities in the field of aerospace
  • Minnesota Space Grant Consortium (MnSGC)
    K-12 science and engineering education, teacher workshops and training, curriculum development
  • Reach for the Sky
    A math and science outreach program for high school youth on the White Earth Reservation

  • Starwatch, information about astronomical phenomena of current interest. Call 612-624-2001 for tape message.

    Public observatory nights using telescopes on the roof of Tate Laboratory of Physics (Minneapolis campus). Observing sessions every Friday night when the sky is at least half clear. Call for recorded message before coming to campus (612-626-0034).
