ITAS Day at The Works: TechFest 2007
Saturday, February 24
10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Works, Edina Community Center
Free
The
Works, a hands-on science and technology museum, is celebrating
its 12th anniversary with TechFest, a special event for the whole
family. The IT Alumni Society is partnering with the Society
of Women Engineers, The Works,
and corporate sponsors to provide free admission to this fun-filled
day of activities. The celebration also marks National Engineers
Week.
The day's activities are centered around an electrical engineering
theme. There will be many hands-on activities exploring circuits
plus cool demonstrations by young FIRST
LEGO League Robotics teams, Future
City teams, and University of Minnesota student
robot projects. You also can explore the world of science and
technology in the museum's ongoing exhibits. Play a harp with strings
of laser light, distort your own image with the hilarious Face Warp
machine, and race a car of your own design (timed to the millisecond).
You'll find much more in The Works' gallery of unique and intriguing
hands-on exhibits.
Special
guest Goldy Gopher will stop by between noon and 2 p.m. to greet
visitors and pose for photos.
The Works is located in the Edina
Community Center at 5701 Normandale Road, Edina, Minnesota.
